Ark Republic joins Rolanda Spencer of Alternative Education Research Institute (AERI) and the Chicago Teachers Union Foundation with AERI’s Break Bread and Build event with legendary emcee and women’s and girls advocate, Roxanne Shanté from March 29 – March 31.

Break Bread and Build is where artists, scholars, activists and community come together to discuss critical issues over good food and performances.

In 10 days, Oxfam loses 7000 monthly donors amid the decades-long sexual misconduct by volunteers and staff members. The scandal broke after Haiti’s government exposed Oxfam workers for engaging in sexual abuses and exploitation of women and girls.

Now, Oxfam desperately attempts to hold onto its government funding. Oxfam’s chief executive, Mark Goldring, told members of the British Parliament that most of the allegations occurred in their international programs.

Oxfam loses support for staffers forcing sex work in Haiti, Chad

UK-based charity, Oxfam reels in scandal after staff in two impoverished, black countries were accused of sexual misconduct.

Volunteers and employees paid sex workers and forced Haitians to trade sex for aid during the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake. Four employees were fired, while three resigned.
